Programme of Studies under Semester System:

In pursuance of the decision of the University to implement the Semester System at the Under Graduate in all Colleges affiliated to the University from the academic session 2015-16, the College offers the following course(s) of study under the Semester System.

Bachelor of Arts : (BA – Honours)
Duration of the Honours Degree Courses under Semester System:

1. The Honours Degree Course will Comprise of 6 (Six) Semester Spread over 3 (three) Academic Years.
2. Semester means a half-yearly programme or terms of studies.
3. 1st (First), 3rd (Third) & 5th (Fifth) will be Odd Semester.
4. 2nd(Second), 4th(Fourth) & 6th(Sixth) Semester will be Even Semester.

1. Students who have Passed Plus 2(10+2) in their respective stream or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board in India or abroad which is considered as equivalent by the University shall be eligible for admission in the First Semester or Honours Degree Course.
2. Students who have passed Plus (10 + 2) or an equivalent examination from any stream from a recognised Board in India/Abroad has the option to change to Arts stream and the students from the Science stream has the option to change to Commerce Stream only.

Student seeking admission for Under Graduate Degree Honours Course(s) in Arst and Commerce under the Semester System are to follow the course structure and subject combination given below:

A. Bachelor of Arts:
1. Compulsory Subjects: English, Alternative English/MIL ( Hindi/Khasi/Nepali),Environmental Studies.
2. Honours Elective:
BA Honours – (English, Education, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Hindi, Khasi & Nepali)
(* Students are to choose one from the subject listed above as Honours Elective)
3. Elective Subject : Students offering BA Honours are to choose two elective subject from the Group given in the table below as per the Honours subject opted for

Subject Combination:

The distribution of Paper/Marks over Six Semester in respect to Honours Paper, Elective Combination Paper and other Compulsory Papers for BA Honours course shall be as laid down in the respective syllabi and as indicated in table below:

	Honours Elective 	 :Eight papers ( of 100 marks each)	: 800 marks
	Elective I 		     :Three papers ( of 100 marks each)	: 300 marks
	Elective II 		 :Three papers ( of 100 marks each)	: 300 marks
	English			     :Two papers ( of 100 marks each)	: 200 marks
	MIL/Alt. English	 : One papers (of 100 marks each)	: 100 marks
	Environmental Studies: One papers (of 100 marks each)	: 100 marks

Total			: Eighteen Papers( of 100 marks each) 	: 1800 marks
