The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs[1] and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community (esp. Villages) linkage.

31st May 2002: Observed as World No-Tobacco Day.
Activities: NSS volunteers took part in the Public Rally organised by the NSS Cell of NEHU, via Jaiaw Student Field to Polo Ground to mark the World No-Tobacco Day.
5th June 2002: Observed as World Environment Day.
Activities: NSS volunteers of BBS College organised by Rally via BBS College to Naspatighari holding placards, charts, banners-poster showing the importance of healthy Environment
5th June 2003: Observed as World Environment Day.
Activities: Plantation and cleaning drive programme was organised by NSS Unit, BBS College at Jhalupara Village.
1st December 2003: Observed as World Aids Day.
Activites: Poster Competition was organised by BBS College, NSS Unit at BBS College.
1st October 2004: Observed Voluntary Blood Donation Day. Organised by NSS Cell, NEHU and Indian Red Cross Society.

26th June 2005: Observed as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
Activities: Football Tournament, Poem Writing Competition open Shillong Marathon were organised by NSS Cell, NEHU in collaboration with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC). NSS volunteers of BBS College took part in all these activities. In football match, our team reached upto Semi-Final, which was played against Shillong College.
26th June 2005: Observed as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

As part of University Talks AIDS Programmes NSS Unit BBS College organised the following activities:

11th to 17th December – 10 NSS Volunteers participated in the National Integration Camp at Kalyani University, West Bengal.
